Le monde de l’athlétisme est en deuil. Zenash Gezmu, la championne d’athlétisme de nationalité éthiopienne qui avait participé cette année à l’Enduro des Sables – Elle avait terminé 48eme du 14 kilomètres mixte et 4eme femme- est décédée d’une manière tragique vient de confirmer son ancien club, Neuilly-sur-Marne Athlétisme. – Elle venait de signer au Stade Français Athlétisme.-
Selon les premières informations du Parisien, elle aurait été retrouvée assassinée à son domicile par un homme qui se serait constitué prisonnier. Il aurait indiqué avoir tué sa compagne.
Une enquête de police a été ouverte pour homicide volontaire. Les investigations sont confiées à la police judiciaire. Une autopsie est en cours pour préciser les circonstances exactes du décès.
« Tout le club est effondré, indique Nicolas Valat, le président du club de Neuilly-sur-Marne. Elle a fait partie de notre famille pendant trois ans et elle était un exemple d’investissement : elle se levait à 5 heures pour courir avant d’aller travailler comme femme de chambre dans un hôtel puis revenait s’entraîner le soir après sa journée de travail. »
De nationalité éthiopienne, elle avait engagé une procédure afin d’obtenir la nationalité française.
